I highlighted the ones that I’ve had.
It’s a boy if:
- You didn’t experience morning sickness in early pregnancy
- Your baby’s heart rate is less than 140 beats per minute
- You are carrying the extra weight out front
- Your belly looks like a basketball
- Your areolas have darkened considerably
- You are carrying low
- You are craving salty or sour foods
- You are craving protein — meats and cheese
- Your feet are colder than they were before pregnancy
- The hair on your legs has grown faster during pregnancy
- Your hands are very dry
- Your pillow faces north when you sleep
- Dad-to-be is gaining weight, right along with you
- Pregnancy has you looking better than ever
- Your urine is bright yellow in color
- Your nose is spreading
- You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves in circles
- You are having headaches
- You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an even number (36)
It’s a girl if:
- You had morning sickness early in pregnancy
- Your baby’s heart rate is at least 140 beats per minute
- You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear
- Your left breast is larger than your right breast
- Your hair develops red highlights
- You are carrying high
- Your belly looks like a watermelon
- You are craving sweets
- You are craving fruit
- You crave orange juice
- You don’t look quite as good as normal during pregnancy
- You are moodier than usual during pregnancy
- Your face breaks out more than usual
- You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread
- Your breasts have really blossomed!
- Your pillow faces south when you sleep
- Your urine is a dull yellow color
- You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves from side to side
- You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an odd number
Week 20.5 October 23, 2006

Nothing much to report this week really. I was very productive this weekend. I have been painting the furniture for baby’s room and I shampooed the carpet in the whole house. That will have to be done again before he gets here but at least I can stand it for a little while longer. It took me about 5 hours and my back was killing me after. I slept like a dream last night though. That has become a rarity also. I can go to sleep at 3am and I will still only sleep a few hours and cannot go back to sleep. I am extremely tired and sleepy but I can’t go back to sleep. That is so frustrating.
My belly hasn’t grown much at all. We went to the doctor this past week and I gained 1.6 pounds in the last 8 weeks. Hopefully I can keep this up and be back to my pre-pregnancy weight as soon as I have the baby. Wouldn’t that be nice?
All I want right now is iced tea and water to drink. No new cravings really. No change in appetite. Haven’t felt him move too much really yet. I feel something kind of flippity flopping and it’s got to be him but they aren’t consistent or very strong yet.
Ugh. Mucous. October 16, 2006

Allergy season is beginning here in Austin and I am disgusted with my body’s reaction to it. I have entirely too much snot in my head to be a normal human being. When you are pregnant, you produce more mucous than normal anyway. Like buckets full. And of course, there is very little I can take to make it better. I took some Sudafed last night as it is on the “approved list” from the doctor. It made me feel like I had smoked crack. Actually, smoking crack is probably a pretty nice experience. Let’s not confuse that with how Sudafed made me feel. No, this was like a heart racing and brain hurting/burning type of experience. So, I instead take my benedryl at night and just suffer during the day. Who knew pregnancy could be this much fun?
Asleep October 9, 2006

My arms and legs just fall asleep. I don’t even have to be laying on it or have it in a funny position. My foot or my arm will just drift off and leave me hanging. It is super annoying and it kills my sleep.
Did you know that there are 3 million and sixty shades of light blue? Well, there are. I was going to just pick one that I liked and I assumed that my baby bedding would just match. Um, not going to work that way. I will have to wait until the fabric is purchased and my friend can send me a sample. Speaking of her and her AMAZING talent… My best friend since 1st grade can replicate any baby designer bedding for half the price. Go check out her site here. Even if you don’t see an example of it on her site, I promise you that you can send her a link of anything you want and that girl will make it. I have combined several that I like in my head and she is making it for me. My baby’s bedding will be like no other. Isn’t that too cool? She also makes awesome, fantastic diaper bags and carseat covers. That means you can get a ugly cheap carseat and she can make it look anyway you want it to. Go check it out. If you don’t love it, you are dead inside. That is all.

I’m almost halfway done making this kid. Can you believe that? There really should be a required night class or something. I can’t believe they are just going to let us walk out of there with him. No questions asked. No credit check. No references.

To looking at baby boy clothes even though I have no money. I did buy this little shirt and hat though. I could not resist. I love the little outfits that look like something my husband would wear too.

Baby Blue Thoughts October 4, 2006

We found out on Monday that we were having a boy but that wasn’t the only good news we received that day. We also found out that it is a perfectly healthy boy. You see, I took that quad screen test that tells you your risk factor for having a baby with birth defects. Only when they call to tell you that it is not a diagnosis and only a risk factor for Down’s Syndrome, all your brain hears is Down’s Syndrome. A 30 year old woman should have a 1 in 600 risk of having a DS baby, mine came back with a 1 in 128 chance. What they don’t tell you about this optional test (that I will never have again) is that there are more false positives than not. Many many factors such as weight and medications can affect the test. My percentage was only .07% chance but in the back of my mind, I was obsessed with that .07%. I did lots of internet research though and I was feeling alot better by the time the ultrasound came around. Maybe that was the power that be’s way of letting me finding out the gender earlier than I was supposed to. Who knows? All I know is that things are right on track. Baby is measuring bigger than my due date so they have moved it up 3 days to March 8th. I think he’ll be big no matter what because we are not small people so who knows when he’ll get here. I’m in no hurry just yet. There is still too much to do.

puppy dog tails. We are having a boy! We are thrilled beyond words. More on how I found out so early later. I’m sleepy. Making boys makes you tired.
